Family Child Care Educators,

This hands-on workshop is designed for family child care educators and early childhood educators, interested in fostering early literacy development in young children. Participants will learn about the foundations of brain development and its relationship to reading books. They also will explore the power of using noncommercial picture books and dialogic reading strategies to create enriching shared reading experiences.

Learning Objectives:

1.Participants will be able to understand the relationship between brain development and children’s optimal brain development through consistent reading routines in home environments.

2.define dialogic reading and describe its key components and benefits for early literacy development.

3. Participants will be able to demonstrate the use of dialogic reading prompts and questioning techniques by engaging in guided practice with high-quality picture books.
